Parents in a fix, cops to file chargesheet

As the management of Sapphire International School prepares to get the school reopened from Monday, parents of the students studying in it are in a fix whether to continue educating their children there or to shift them somewhere else.

Twelve-year-old Class VII student Vinay Mahto was found dead in the school campus on the early hours of Friday under mysterious circumstances allegedly after being killed by another student of 16 years of age of his school for befriending his 11-year-old sister.

“Teachers are irresponsible as they do not take much care of the students inside the school campus. Even if the school re-opens, we will have to rethink about continuing our children further in the school,” said a father of a child studying in class VII at the school requesting anonymity. Parents as well as kids are also afraid of the incident which took place in the school, he said.

Both parents and students are still to come out of the trauma which they experienced in the last one week following the incident which took place in the school.

“I am still in shock and am not able to sleep at night. Even my four year old kid is afraid as it has put a negative impact on the kids. If I get an option, I will put my child to another school……but it’s hard to find out a school easily,” said a mother whose two children are studying in the school. The parents are so terrified of the incident that some of them have started finding options to shift their children to boarding schools outside Ranchi.

Although, some of the parents believed that such incidents could happen anywhere, they passed tacit remarks that they will wait and watch till the final exams are over.

“This is not the proper time to disturb any student in the mid of the session…. We will wait and watch till the final exams are over….then we will decide about it,” said another mother of a child requesting anonymity.

Vinay Mahto’s father has already declared that he will not let his other two sons study in this school anymore.

Police, on the other hand, are making preparations to file charge sheet in the case as soon as possible.   “Although, the case has been cracked, investigations in the case will still go on till the charge sheet is framed in the case. Since, the case has been cracked, there is no need to do polygraph test of the four persons who were detained for interrogation,” said ASP Hatia Prashant Anand.

When asked about the copy of FIR not provided to the family members of deceased as being claimed in the court, Anand said that was lying with the concerned Police Station; copy of which could be take from there anytime.

Anand also claimed that FIR had been lodged on the same day when incident took place. Since, we were clueless regarding the person who has committed the crime; FIR against unknown persons had been filed, he said.
