The suicide by a 14-year-old undertrail at remand home has left East Singhbhum district administration shaken. The administration has removed the present warden Sandhya Rani and has started taking corrective measures.

The directive issued by the deputy commissioner also asked the district social welfare officer Ranjana Mishra to make the counselling session by the appointed counselor Amrita Kumari a daily affair instead of the earlier schedule of thrice a week (Monday, Wednesday and Friday).
Sonu Ram 14-year-old boy who was an undertrial, committed suicide by hanging at the Karandih-based Remand Home in Parsudih on Wednesday morning.
The juvenile undertrial was found hanging from an iron beam in the bath-room of the Remand Home.
Meanwhile, mother of the deceased minor, Shibani Mukhi (35), along with over 100 residents of Dhatkidih under the banner of Ambedkar Sena, on Thursday blocked the district collectorate main gate and squatted on the road for nearly an hour.
“My son Sonu Ram can never commit suicide. I had met with my son on February 17 at the remand home and he had complained that dirty works were being done at the home pleaded with me to release him from the home. I had consoled my child that soon he would be released. My child would not have taken his life unless some extreme physical torture would have taken place on him,” said Shibani Mukhi, who works as a domestic servant.
Ambedkar Sena president Baiju Mukhi alleged that unnatural sex would have led the minor to commit suicide. “We demand probe and administration must provide adequate compensation to the family,” said Baiju Mukhi.
later, East Singhbhum deputy commissioner released an amount of Rs 10,000 to the family of the minor for performing last rites and assured that proper action would be taken following probe report of the magisterial inquiry.
