Regardless of several attempts to convince the protesting para teachers to withdraw their agitation, over 67,000 para teachers still appear reluctant.
Even after conducting a meeting with Chief Secretary (CS) Sudhir Tripathy recently, the agitating para teachers have decided to stage a massive protest on November 15. The para teachers will congregate at Morhabadi Ground on Statehood celebration day.
“If the CM approves our demand, the protesting para teachers will immediately withdraw their protest.
In case, if the decision goes against the para teachers, the agitators will continue their indefinite strike and will organise ‘Ghera Daalo, Dhera Daalo’ campaign from November 16 in a fierce way,” said, State Convener, Jharkhand Para Teachers Association, Bajrang Prasad.
Notably, Tripathi had conducted a meeting with Para teachers here on November 8. During the meeting, it was decided that the State government will increase the honorarium of para teachers in the coming days. As many as 56,170 para teachers will get the benefit.
Also, creation of welfare funds including extension of validation of TET pass certificate from five years to seven years is on the cards and soon a decision will be finalised regarding the alteration.
During the meeting, the CS informed the para teachers that due to the increment in the monthly wage of para teachers, the State government has to borne an additional burden of Rs 40 crore.
The CS requested the protesting para teachers to cooperate with the State government until the new rule is not enforced.
However, delegation of para teachers from all the five commissionaires who met the CS did not approve his recommendations and remained firm about their decision to stage a protest with list of demands on 18th Jharkhand Day.
The list of demands of para teachers primarily includes job regularisation, recruitment of teachers through counselling and direct enrollment of TET pass para teachers.
The five-day long protest that started on October 29 and continued till November 2, the agitating para teachers had unanimously stated that due to the State Government’s apathy such situation has aroused.
The protesting para teachers had also stated then that the high level committee constituted a few months ago to look into the demands of the para teachers and take apt action in accordance to the requirements is mere eyewash and the State government is purposely delaying the appointment of the para teachers.
