Education Minister Jagarnath Mahato, on Saturday held a meeting with the para teachers, in which it was decided that the teachers have to pass an assessment test to get a fixed pay scale.

The meeting took place at the residence of the Education Minister and it was decided during the meeting that a meeting will be held on August 10, in which the pay scale fixation will be considered. Director, Primary Education, Dr Shailesh Chaurasia and eight representatives of Para Teachers were present in the meeting.

It was decided during the meeting that an assessment test will be conducted for the pay scale of para teachers. The department will give three chances for the test of each candidate. It is believed that the decision will be taken in Jharkhand on the lines of the Para Teacher Manual made in Bihar.

After the meeting while talking to media persons, Mahato said that the Para teachers of the State would be made permanent on the lines of Bihar. He said that the manual will be made on the line of Bihar and an agreement has been reached on this between the State Government and the Para Teachers. The Minister said that three times Para teachers will be given a chance. “On passing the examination, the teachers will be given a regular pay scale. Those Para teachers who will not pass the examination will not be removed from service,” he added.

Mahto said that on Tuesday, August 10, a meeting will be held in this matter again. “This meeting will be held with the officials, in which the pay scale fixation of Para teachers will be considered. Along with this, it will also be studied by asking for a manual from Bihar,” he added.

A meeting has been called in the matter again on August 18, in which the Education Minister, departmental officers and Para teacher representatives will be involved. In this meeting, the manual made on the lines of Bihar will be discussed.

The total number of Para teachers in the State is 65000. For a long time, the Para teachers were waiting for the good health of the Education Minister. Last year, no decision was taken regarding Para teachers after the Minister fell ill. The matter was pending for a long time. This first meeting was held with the Para teachers after the Minister returned to the State. Para teachers are agitating from time to time regarding regularisation of job and permanent and pay scale.
