There will be a 50 per cent honorarium increase to TET para teachers and 40 per cent honorarium increase to non TET Para teachers, 10 per cent honorarium increase bonus after passing the assessment test and 4 per cent growth in salary per annum.

A meeting between the Education Minister, Jagarnath Mahato and the Para Teachers delegation was held on Tuesday. In the meeting, an objection was lodged on behalf of the delegation on the draft of the Para Teacher Manual. The delegation was informed that every year the honorarium of the teachers would be increased by 4 per cent and the teachers would get an opportunity to clear the written test four times.

To pass the assessment test, the general category Para teachers will have to get 40 per cent and the reserve category Para teachers will have to get 30 per cent marks. At the same time, it was also told that the Government would consider giving compassion.

It has also been told that the new rules will be passed in the cabinet on December 20. At the same time, the rules will be applicable from December 29. The Minister assured that the Government would withdraw the ongoing case against Para teachers.

Last week there was a meeting of the Para teacher delegation and the Education Minister. In which the Education Minister clearly said that the para teachers of the State will not be permanent.

However, there was talk of increasing the honorarium of trained para teachers and untrained para teachers. The minister had informed the delegation that the teachers would have to pass the eligibility test.

Since then, there is talk of agitation in the state from the Para Shikshak Sangharsh Morcha.

Earlier, in the month of August also, there was a meeting of the Education Minister with the para teachers. In which he had assured the teachers that rules would be made in the state on the lines of Bihar state.

The Integrated Para Shikshak Sangharsh Morcha took feedback from the district units on the draft manual. After which the Morcha has made it clear that they want a pay scale in any case.

The Government should implement the rules on the lines of Bihar. Not satisfied with the decision to increase the honorarium.
