JTET pass para teachers’ protest turned violent on Monday near Governor House when police had to resort to apply force to control the teeming crowd heading towards the CM residence. Police forces resorted to lathi charge and use of water cannons after the crowd started pushing the security personnel back. Several people got injured during the protest.

Approximately, 3000 teachers from across the State had gathered at Morabadi Ground. The clash between police personnel and protesters initiated when few teachers gathered at a designated place broke the barriers and started protesting on Morabadi road. Few of them even tried to attempt self immolations on spot.

Despite the assurance from the State Government and the concerned officials, the para teachers say that they have been cheated. “Chief Secretary Rajbala Verma had assured each one of us that we all will be appointed before August 15 in different districts but so far nothing has been done on the issue. Now, it is high time and we will take strick action and solely State Government will be responsible for everything,” said, State convener of JTET pass teacher association, Bajrang Prasad.

The pay scale at present of these para teachers is between Rs 6,800 to Rs 8,400 per month. The para teachers have been protesting from January 2016 for job regularization. Several thousand para teachers from across the State, with their family members congregated on Morabadi ground recently.

Protestors claim that large numbers of post of primary teachers are lying vacant in State but the State Government is not initiating the recruitment drive for these posts and have planned to conduct another examination.

Approximately, 500 women from across the State have yet not been recruited even after fulfilling all eligibility criteria. 50 per cent recruitments are counterfeit. More than 144 fake cases have been registered in Dhanbad, 67 fake cases are registered in Bokaro, said a protester.

Similarly, another group of para teachers including 3500 cluster resource personnel (CRP) and block resource personnel (BRP) staged protest and gheraoed the State BJP head office on Monday.

They too are demanding job regularization on the basis of experience. “BJP official has given written assurance that the matter will be put forward before State BJP president, laxman Gilua and further the letter will be forwarded to CM Raghubar Das. We will fight until our demands are fulfilled,” said, para teacher leader, Vikrant Jyoti.
