Ranchi Police must have realised that desperate times calls desperate measures as they have began the exercise of securing areas near banks and ATMs in the city.
“We have issued instructions to all Police Stations to remain vigilant in the areas especially near banks and ATMs,” said City SP MR Chauthey.Significantly, the orders to remain vigilant are accompanied by institutional support to all Police Stations in Ranchi. As many as two to three tiger mobile and panthers will be given to each Police Stations.
“Tiger mobile will be given according to the area under control of a Police Station,” said the City SP adding “the Tiger mobile and Panther will be keeping an eye on vital installations in their area.”Interestingly, the newly issued order is yet to sink-in and is evident by no Police presence near ATMs or banks in most of the localities till Friday evening.
Ironically, in the wake of recent spurt in snatching security has largely been restricted to usual patrolling by Police of respective areas and no deployment by respective Police Stations near ATMs or banks.Incidentally, Chief Minister Hemant Soren while taking cognizance of rising incidents of snatching and dacoity had issued instructions to bring the menace under control. In a high level meeting with senior Police officials CM had warned of action against erring official for failing to check crime in designated areas.
