Panki MLA finds shelter scheme’s skeletons

Published on:

BJP MLA from Panki Shashibhushan Mehta has threatened to raise the shelter racket of Panki block on the floor of the House. He has discovered 17 houses meant for primitive tribe group Parhaiyya far from completion since 2017 -18 when Panki had a Congress MLA.

Mehta said, “These 17 highly poor and vulnerable group of Parhaiyyas have been cheated of their houses under Birsa Yojna. These houses are of the year 2017 -18. The fund for these houses has been siphoned off and this primitive tribe group is rotting in pains.”

Mehta further said, “As per the version of the victim parhaiyyas each house was worth 1.31 lakh. But only one foot to three feet wall has been raised and house has been shown to have been completed and money taken by the middlemen.”

The BJP MLA said, “The Assembly is in the session. I will raise this issue as a starred question. This is the height of the crime against the poor. Can only middlemen do this?”

Mehta said, “There is loot all around, be it house scheme or road or culver making etc in the year 2014 -19.”

This last Assembly election 2019 Mehta gave a crushing defeat to Congress’ Bittu Singh and now Mehta is all out to expose the corruption in public or beneficiary utility schemes like these 17 houses under Birsa Awas for PTG Parhaiyyas, which are not by any stretch worth calling any house as there is just a few feet walls only.

The MLA said, “A particular pragya Kendra operator in Panki, two or three middle men and unscrupulous officials of the Panki block have so duped the innocent Parhaiyyas.”

Mehta spoke to district welfare officer Nisha Tirkey from the site of these duped Parhaiayya families who live in their shattered earlier houses at Jaspur 58 kms away from Daltonganj asking the lady officer to visit Jaspur first to have a feel as to how these poor have been so left in lurch of a housing scheme of 2017 -18.

This correspondent also spoke to Nisha Tirkey in this regard to know as to how this case of fraud in housing scheme never came to light in all these years since 2017 -18 to which Nisha Tirkey said, “I will seek a report from the Panki BDO in this connection.”

Panki BDO S Murmu said, “I took over charge of Panki only this last October and hence have not much of this idea and information about this racket.”

Nand Kishore Parhaiyya, Nirmal Parhaiyya, Rajoya Devi, Matia Devi and many others there at Jaspur mobbed the MLA asking him to first punish the middle men whom they called Yadavs who has so cheated them by obtaining their thumb impressions and diverting fund for their houses into these middlemen’s accounts.
