Pankaj Mishra sent to CIP from RIMS

Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s MLA representative from Barhait, Pankaj Mishra who is accused of illegal mining and managing tenders in Sahibganj district, will be treated in CIP (Central Institute of Psychiatry). Mishra was shifted from RIMS Ranchi to CIP on Monday. CIP director Dr.Vasudev Das said that Pankaj Mishra will be in emergency for the time being. After preliminary investigation it will be decided whether he will be treated in the de-addiction center or not. It is known that Pankaj Mishra is addicted to taking a drug named Fortwin. Because of which they are facing many problems. Especially the doctors treating him are facing problems after which the Medical Board has taken this decision.

Mishra, having considerable political clout, was arrested by ED in August this year on charges of illegal mining. For a long time, Mishra was seen as a ‘super chief minister’ in his native district of Sahibganj. While his name cropped up in various controversies in the past, Mishra was too big a fish to be reined in by district officials.

The shifting of Mishra to CIP has come at the time when, Vijay Hansda, a witness of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) against Pankaj Mishra in an illegal mining case has told the agency that Sahibganj police had threatened him for lodging a complaint against Pankaj Mishra and he was later implicated in a false criminal case.

Vijay Hansda currently lodged at Sahibganj jail told this to the ED during his questioning. He also told the ED that he wanted to continue his case against Pankaj Mishra and others whom he had alleged for carrying illegal mining.

As ED is after Mishra, recently he filed a complaint case against the Assistant Director of Enforcement Directorate (ED), Ranchi, Debvrat Jha. The complaint has been lodged in the special court of ED, which has been accepted by the court of Prabhat Kumar Sharma.

It has been said in the complaint that the assistant director of ED has concealed facts. It has been said in the application that the case, on the basis of which the ED has filed a case in the money laundering case, is Barharwa police station case number 85 of 2020, which has been terminated at the local police station on the application of the applicant Vijay Hansda. But, the ED officials have filed a prosecution report hiding the facts.

In this case, the police had said in a press conference that apart from Pankaj Mishra, Minister Alamgir Alam was found innocent and the court also did not take cognizance against Pankaj Mishra. But the assistant director of ED has hidden this information from the ED court. Pankaj Mishra is not an accused in 85/20. For this reason, Pankaj Mishra has registered the case.
