Panchkalyanak at Hazaribagh Jain temple

Published on:

The renovated Boddom Bazar Jain temple is one of the best in eastern India. Built with Nagar sculpture, it is a fine example of both design and Vastukala. Three large peaks and nine large vediyan (hawan kunds) are the main attraction. Now, new idols of Mahavir and his 24 followers will be installed here.

An establishment programme will be held at Jain School, Hazaribagh from May 25 to 31 and devotees from different parts of this country and abroad will take part in the ceremony.

According to lore, the process by which a saint changes a mere stone into a deity is called panchkalyanak. The aim, according to saints present at a press conference, is to pray for peace and prosperity in the world.
