Palamu SP deliberates upon panchayat polls with officials

Coming panchayat polls in Palamu spur SP Palamu Patel Mayur K lal to activate and motivate his team of police officials for a fair and peaceful poll here.On Wednesday Patel Mayur sat for hours with his DSP, inspectors and OCs in his office here in the Palamu collectorate.

Patel Mayur said the police officials were told to carry out arms verification. Arms verification is a big job here.Sources said there is hardly any tola (Segment) of a village where a jobless youth has not handled an illicit weapon.

Patel Mayur K lal is very serious about it. He said there can be no laxity in the arms verification.Apart from arms verification the other thrust area of Palamu SP is the sanitisation of rural roads for poll. He said 'Roads and alleys are to be well taken care of'.

Since Palamu like other parts of this State has seen two elections the lok Sabha and the Assembly one in the recent past identification of booth for sensitivity, super sensitivity is no major task to be done.

A police officer said 'There is no booth in Palamu which has in any span of time moved from super sensitivity to normal. Once super sensitive is always a super sensitive".

Sources said panchayat polls in the past election had seen feudal bossism here wherein voters of weaker sections were either bullied to cast vote in favour of a hand picked candidate or were prevented from casting vote. This time Palamu administration is tight enough to push such feudal bosses behind bars before any enactment of anti poll act.

Sources said there are critical booths whose number goes upto more than 70 in the 5 assembly segments of this district where poll cast percentage has gone upto 90 per cent in the past.

There are about a dozen booths alone in Chainpur block in Palamu where there are more than a dozen critical booths.
