A daring robbery was committed last night at Kooseeyara railway station in Palamu. This railway station comes under the Moghulsarai railway division and falls between Garhwa and Sone Nagar railway stations. Sources said four criminals with faces covered committed the robbery. Ticket sale worth Rs4,535 was looted. Two porters were also looted. One was robbed of Rs600 and a cell phone and another was relieved of Rs120. Neither the railway station master nor the porter were hurt or beaten up by the criminals. One or two of the criminals had a country-made weapon.

Incidentally, there was hardly any passenger there on this Kooseeyara railway station last night when this robbery was committed otherwise, the passengers too would have fallen prey to the robbery. Robbery is mostly done once the train leaves the railway station. The RPF inspector Akhilesh Singh has confirmed this robbery. The RPF inspector said a new gang could be behind this.

Asked if there was any other gang, the RPF inspector added, “ There was one gang. It was of the criminals belonging to Dhurki village.” Four criminals of this gang are behind the bars and hence, there is every possibility of a new gang committing this robbery. Sources said possibility of the role of extremists has been ruled out in this robbery. It is the job of the railway criminals. In Palamu, there are road criminals, highway robbers, railway criminals, said a police officer claiming that a road robber will not do any crime in the railways and similarly, a railway criminal will not hit the roads/highways.
