Palamu police have fixed a target to book as many as 5,000 violators of traffic rules till January 26. Sources said the police have fixed the target to force and compel the bikers not to take any liberty with the traffic rules.

SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha said, “We have fixed this 5,000 targets till this January 26 as bikers and other vehicle users are not taking the advice of police any more seriously but with this target of 5,000 cops of each of the police stations are on live wire to chase and catch violators of traffic rules in order to meet the target of the police station where the cops are posted.”

Mahatha is against triple riding which is more severe when the riders are boys but in case of girls doing the triple riding the traffic cops look the other way. Girls can be seen triple riding in the second half of the day to attend various coaching centres and institutes.

Bikers are using helmets but the shape and size of the helmet is not in accordance with the specified size and shape under Motor Vehicle Act.

Sources said youths are using miner’s head crash or head gear leaving the vital parts like ears and nose and eyes open which gets fatal in the event of road accident. Police are advising such helmet wearers to refrain from miner’s helmet and go for full head gear when riding any bike.
