There is no conversion issue at all at Jaynagra locality under Chainpur police station. Some over smart people there tried to blow the conversion issue which fell flat as there is not even a remote hint or tinge of it,” said SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha.
The SP said, “It was an issue of ox. It led to a brawl between two families here at Jaynagra and both of whom are Oraons. These two are neighbours too.
Someone tried to fish in the troubled waters and worked hard to paint this brawl as one spurred from attempt of conversion on the part of one family. It is all a lie. It is baseless and unfounded.”
Chainpur police station officer in charge (OC) Sunit Kumar who is inspector of police there too gave all the details of this issue saying,
“On October 29 Rameshwar Oraon a Hindu by faith of Jaynagra locality gave a written complaint to Chainpur police station against his neighbor Kawaldhari Oraon a Christian by faith alleging and accusing Kawaldhari of promoting or paving way for conversion into the fold of Christianity”.
The inspector further said, “A joint inquiry was done. The joint inquiry was conducted by BDO Chainpur Alka Kumari and OC Chainpur cum inspector of police (read Sunit Kumar).
The team conducted the inquiry on November 1 at Jaynagra. The team found the complaint of Rameshwar Oraon as baseless and unfounded and without any substance.”
“It was all an issue of an ox. Kalwadhari Oraon has an ox. Rameshwar Oraon has had some problem with this ox of Kawaldhari. The two fought over it.
Kawaldhari was most abusive and aggressive towards Rameshwar Oraon. Rameshwar Oraon was given this wisdom by one other local of Jaynagra to fabricate a case of conversion and implicate Kawaldhari Oraon and accordingly Rameshwar Oraon went by this wisdom of others” said Sunit kumar.
“ Residents of Jaynagra too told the inquiry team nothing about this conversion bid but they narrated the ox story as to how these two Oraons one a Hindu and the other a Christian had fracas over this which was given a coat of conversion painting”reiterated this police inspector.
SP Mahatha gave the final shot on it saying “As Kawaldhari Oraon was more belligerent, abusive and unseemly towards his neighbor Rameshwar Oraon whom he had manhandled too police have registered a case against Kawaldhari Oraon under sections 323 and 341 of IPC against
Kawaldhari Oraon and this issue only is being further investigated”.
Police inspector said police have identified the man a retired teacher of Jaynagra who is alleged to have given a spur to this whole issue and worked hard to persuade Rameshwar Oraon to present this case as a case of conversion that Kawaldhari Oraon was promoting.
