Extremists of the splinter group of Jharkhand Jan Mukti Parishad (JJMP) are trying to regain its foothold at villages under Ramgarh police station in Palamu.
Sources said on Thursday a small band of JJMP led by its most dreaded man Mahesh Bhuiyan reached Bansdeeh village and manhandled a petty contractor for levy.
Sources said the Ramgarh police mounted pressure following which on Friday today Mahesh Bhuiyan and Ram Sunder fled in terrible panic.
Officer in charge of Ramgarh police station Ashish Khakha said the police had almost cornered Mahesh Bhuiyan but the locals just did not give us the right information at the right time. Khakha said such is the fear of JJMP that villagers who offer them food, water etc do not open their mouths against them. He said even the petty contractor who was manhandled by the JJMP was not inclined to give us any bit of information.
Sources said Ramgarh is a police station in Palamu district which faces the worst of sneaking in of extremists from Latehar’s Barwadeeh side as between Ramgarh and Barwadeeh there is a huge rain fed river the Koyal and extremists either negotiate this river when it has little water or they take to jungle routes which are more a big covering for them.
