Palamu police have launched an initiative ’Tarey Zameen Par’. It is not a remake of Aamir Khan’s film of the same title. Palamu police’s Tarey Zameen Par is different but as meaningful as Khan’s film.
Sources said DIG police Palamu Vipul Shukla conceived this initiative which had the back up of the senior officials of the State police.
Shukla said ‘ During our anti Naxal operations in remote and cut off areas of this police range comprising three districts Palamu Garhwa and latehar we found children of lesser gods under fed under clothed and bare footed’
Shukla said ‘ We found them going to Government schools bare footed and sans any school bags and water bottles’.
DIG police said ‘ An idea came to me that since security forces have now more time on hand because of the decline of extremism police should now focus on neglected species and I thought doing something for the bare footed and under clothed children of parents who have learnt to live in destitution’.
Citizens have been urged to donate their discarded clothes for children but not the dirty ones nor torn ones. Clothes should be wearable.
Citizens have been further urged to donate school bags, instrument boxes, water bottles, shoes, slippers, toys, comic books, poem books for the faceless children.
Shukla reminded that police would not accept any cash doling by the citizens.
The freebies so collected would be given away among the children of the naxal hit pockets.
However sources said winter wear is acceptable to poor but since it is summer, poor man’s acceptance to winter wear is skeptical.
Sources said the initiative is set to change the mindset of the rural folks that police only arrest and do kurkee jabtee. Caring for children will connect the police to women folks.
DIG police Palamu is to start this initiative on Sunday April 9 in Daltonganj while SPs of Garhwa and latehar would be doing the same in their head quarters Garhwa and latehar the same day Sunday at 11 in the day.
Bal Meetra cops and lady police officials have been roped in for this with logistics from child protection group.
