Chainpur police in Palamu have on Tuesday succeeded in getting together the supporters of BJP candidate Alok Chaurasia and Congress candidate KN Tripathi at the police station where the two camps had too many allegations against each other but finally resolved to sink their distrust for each other.
Under order of the SP Palamu, Ajay Linda, this meeting was convened by Officer In Charge of the Chainpur police station Sunit Kumar which was presided over by SDPO sadar Sandip Kumar Gupta.
Gupta asked both the sides to let their pent up feelings out as this will later purge them of malice and distrust against each other.
A few started leveling accusations against each other but many elderly there were in favour of burying the hatchet once for all saying, “Whatever happened on November 30 at the Kusiyara booth where Tripathi flaunted his pistol was like a flood or a marriage party that leaves behind some unpleasant tastes which no one loves to keep it for long.”
Gupta reminded the two sides that keeping hostility against each other will not benefit any of the two camps and this police officer reminded that when East Germany and West Germany can unite to become one why not the villages in support of Chourasia and Tripathi join hands together for peace and amity. Many there nodded in affirmation.
OC Sunit Kumar had invited around 72 people from villages Kusiyara, Narsighpoor Pathra, Katuwal Khurd, Majhigawan, Lidhkee, Purabdeeha and Koluhawa. Inspector of this police station RR Shahi appealed to both the camps to scotch rumour as it is taking the toll of harmony.
Police reacted too swift following interception of a few WhatsApp messages and facebook write ups, which were found to be most intimidating to the Chaurasias and in retaliation of it the Chaurasias were equally getting red over all these developments.
Sources said there is second round strain and effort for police when votes will be counted here on December 23 as on that day tension is bound to erupt if victory margin is too narrow.
SDPO Gupta was asked in the meeting if there would come any legal relief to persons named accused in the FIRs lodged in this Tripathi episode, to which he said, “Let law work on its own. There cannot be any pressure on this count.”
Linda said he has asked his officials and QRT (quick response team) to keep strict vigil on both the camps and if need be put behind the bars those who try to outsmart law here.
