Palamu Police have geared up for the counting day (May 16) in Daltonganj. According to SP Palamu YS Ramesh, the police and the CRPF will maintain peace harmony and public tranquility.
“As there comes out victory procession where mood goes upbeat, care and caution have to be ascertained for it does not cause any jeering to other as even a slight gesture of jeering can cause a major problem and hence, the police are drawing measures to ensure a peaceful victory procession,” said Ramesh.
Further, the counting centre is very close to NH 75 and the administration is mooting a plan not to cause any major disruption of traffic on NH 75. Traffic on National Highways will be allowed but for no traffic snarls near the counting centre, the administration is looking forward for a simple diversion of route via Doordarshan kendra side which will not cause any traffic dislocation at all.
Sources said had there been not a twenty feet height railway bridge, this problem would not have arisen at all. Ramesh said there would be barricading but not to cause any obstruction but to streamline the things.
KN Jha, the Returning Officer said there would be 26 round of counting with 14 counting tables at each of the six Assembly segments of the Palamu lok Sabha seat. As there is located one SBI branch right inside the premise of the counting centre banking business for the customers on May 16 is most likely to be affected here. The bankers will act as micro observers said Jha.
The SP Ramesh and DC KN Jha have made several trips to the counting centre here to take of the stock there. Except for JD(U) contestant Jorawar Ram, who has lost all his keenness for the outcome of the counting fever of hope grips the other as the BJP candidate VD Ram is living in a rented house here on NH 75.
The Palamu district Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (P) president Avinash K Verma never misses to give a count of votes his party has polled while the Congress leadership rues the RJD candidate did not give them any weightage.
