Dalit against dalit in Palamu and police took a safe recourse. Police escorted a dalit family from Jeeta Mati under Mahudand police picket and put up the family in Hussainabad a distance of 25 Kms where this dalit family is under constant watch and protection of the police. Hussainabad police are taking care of their food and other needs of daily life here.
Indrajeet Mahatha SP Palamu said “The reason to bring out this family from Jeeta Mati in Mahudand to Hussainabad where this family is under police protection since May 8 is all for the safety and security of this family which is exposed to threat and risk from the same community that this family comes from. This dalit family is Bhuiyan and the threat is also from Bhuiyans.”
The SP declined to give the names of the family members under police protection saying, “let them live unseen by others in our safe protective cover.”
Asked as to for how long this police protection will be for this family which is too far away from its house in Hussainabad SP said the police are out to catch the culprits. There are five named accused Bhuiyans. Police have nabbed one of the five. The remaining four would be caught soon. Once all these go behind the bars this protection will continue for this family.
“This dalit family had a teenager daughter. She was in love with a Bhuiyan boy a co villager. The Bhuiyan boy was to be married to another girl on May 7. The five named accused Bhuiyans had wanted this marriage of the Bhuiyan boy to go off smoothly with another girl and for this this girl was sent by her family to Mama house away from Jeeta Mati but this girl came back Jeeta Mati on May 4 itself which the five named accused did not like at all and took this as a challenge to them,” he said.
