The district of Palamu has been put under surveillance for the swine flu. According to the district surveillance officer- cum-district malaria officer- cum-district reproductive child health officer Braj Nandan Kumar, the district health service is sending a daily report to the State surveillance office Ranchi stating ‘nil’ cases so far. Sources said migrant labourers of Palamu have begun to return from places like Rajasthan and Delhi. Palamu’s students taking coaching classes in Rajasthan’s Kota too are on back home journey. Their return to home has heightened the sense of fear among the residents.
The civil surgeon Palamu Vijay Kumar Singh said, “There is no cause of any panic at all. My doctor son is in a hospital in Rajasthan and he has told me there is no such worry there.” The civil surgeon said Palamu’s one doctor Braj Nandan Kumar has taken a day’s training on this swine flu treatment, control etc in Ranchi.
Braj Nandan Kumar said the district health unit is awaiting PPE ( personal protective equipment). The PPE is a protective gear from head to shoe cover. It is for the doctor attending any swine flu affected patient and the para medics. Sources said there is no PPE in the Palamu district civil surgeoncy.
