Palamu DIG comes candid on cops' way of probing economic crimes

Published on:

Should there be a well trained and proficient police official to investigate cases wherein Government money has been siphoned offIJ This question is not outlandish if one takes the comment of the DIG Palamu RK Dhan into serious consideration.

At a police workshop here recently wherein 100 cops got tips on investigating crimes related to malpractice in tender notices, construction, expenditures of Government money, forgery in Government fund, using exhausted fixed deposit receipts as genuine to bag contracts the DIG Dhan had this open comment 'Palamu police are a big disappointment so far their handling of economic crimes is concerned'.

“Palamu police are very weak on this front,” he reminded to leave no doubt in the mind of this pioneer man saying further, “The police do not exert hard and thus the cases gather dust as it happened in 11 cases of FIR lodged by principal secretary SK Satpathy where no action from the side of the police is any visible.”

Economic crimes are a bit technical like road construction scam as a police officer has to get information from others to find out what the mix ought to be of stone chips and the coaltar and how to measure its thickness and what should be the weight of compunction of the under construction road.
