With rains fish do not come. But if a fish pond over tops in rains which Palamu saw on the intervening night of July 15/16 having 141mm of rainfall then fish are all around in dirty and unhygienic water. Consumption of it is highly risky.Deputy Commissioner Palamu K Srinivasan urges people not to get tempted towards such fish. At his press briefing here on Friday July 17 Srinivasan said people must be cautious while dealing with fish. The over topping of pond has seen many hundreds of fish changing their habitat. It is in field full of dirt and muddy water. Consumption of it is hazardous reminded Srinivasan.
DC Palamu said ‘ Fish comes here in ice boxes from Andhra Pradesh. As NH 98 and 75 are broken such fish in ice box have its limited life span. The dealer sells it at a cheaper price to save himself loss but health wise this fish be avoided’.After fish Srinivasan goes on to the issue of restoration of traffic on NH 98 and NH 75 as both the NHs stand damaged and traffic is halted. Srinivasan in a tactical move placed the engineers of NHs and PWD ( road) to face the barrage of queries of newsmen who lambasted the engineers that wash out of diversions is all because of delayed works on NHs to which the engineers had no adequate response. Srinivasan agreed that work on NHs continue to be slow and this is the fall out of that slowness. The engineers said they had not believed there would be so great a rain in Palamu.
Traffic restoration on NHs would be delayed by a week or so. For Ranchi an alternative route has been discovered. But for Kolkatta Delhi, Varansi, Patna, Up and Chhatisgarh the NH 98 broken and washed at Bana would be open after four or five days.As for poor who lost their food stuff, Srinivasan said genuine cases where rice has been destroyed by rains will be compensated but said this should not be taken as any open help to everyone.
