Palamu DC orders axing of two month pay of hospital manager

Hospital manager of Government Sadar Hospital Daltonganj Ravi Shankar Sourav gets a two month pay cut under order of the DC Palamu Shantanu Kumr Agrahari.  This punitive action against him is for a proven charge that 6 indoor patients of this hospital were not given their meals on the night of Tuesday, October 9!

DC Agrahari said “ I have ordered for a two month pay cut of this hospital manager with a warning if there is any repeat of this kind of folly on his part he will lose his contract here.”

The DC further said “ Civil surgeon Palamu Kalanand Mishra has also been directed to further strengthen his grip on these things in the hospital in the larger interest of the patients.”

The DC added “ I got a video clip of 45 second on October 9 wherein it was stated that no food was served to indoor patients at night then.”  Taking immediate cognizance of it an inquiry was set up and now it has been proved true, the  DC added.

On October 9 six indoor patients were not given food. The matter was probed under order of  the DC by Dr John F Kennedy.

Dr Kennedy told the Pioneer “ These 6 indoor patients were those who were of G OT ( general operation theatre). One among the 6 was a woman. None were given food at night on October 9. It is confirmed. I have done the video recording of the statements of these patients.”

Dr Kennedy further said during investigation he came across two other patients Haider Ali and Ranjana Devi who just ‘did not take food hat night on their own”.

He said Ali is a resident of Daltonganj and gets his food straight from his family while Ranjana Devi said she did not feel eating on that night and so she did not take food.

Dr Kennedy agreed that hospital manager needs to be more discreet in his behavior and action.  He  said “ It was quite pleasant to hear indoor patients praising the quality of food who got it on that night of October 9. 19 patients were given food in the hospital on that night.  It is they who praised the quality of food. It is very strange as to how 6 there were not given food that night.”

Sources said hospital manager remains in news for wrong reasons.  A few months back he was detained by local police as well said an official of this hospital.

Dr Kennedy agreed that the role of cook leaves much to be desired here. He said food is not served bed to bed but is kept at central point in each ward where attendant/ patient comes and collects food.

Dr Kennedy said “ Cook has a problem which looks genuine.  He told me that he cannot move around with food among patients.  This may ut food at risk as well and so food is kept at a point which is easily reachable by attendant or patient.”

Food comes only for admitted patients , not any of their attendants said civil surgeon Kalanand Mishra.
