The DC Palamu Kirpa Nand Jha has taken a serious note of dirt and filth littered at the Sadar Hospital here. Jha made a surprise inspection of the hospital here Friday January 23 and was quite displeased to see the filth around. On the other hand the civil surgeon Palamu Vijay K Singh said the DC reached the sadar hospital at 7 in the morning on Friday when dirt and filth were in a state of removal and when again the DC saw it at 9 am on Friday there was the perceptible change.
Speaking to The Pioneer DC said ‘ I have asked the civil surgeon to step up the cleanliness drive. Things which are redundant and not fit for any use but lying in the sadar hospital are to be disposed of while things of utility lying helter and skelter are to be properly stored and this will add to the cleanliness of this hospital’.
A Ranchi based NGO does the job of cleanliness here in this hospital here. Asked if this Ranchi based agency will be pulled up for the filth around the civil surgeon Singh said ‘ It will be definitely asked to improve its services but to terminate it is no solution as local agency was first roped in which too failed and if this Ranchi one is sacked then who will carry out the cleanliness drive hereIJ’
The DC Jha said “ I got the complaint of bed sheets of the indoor patients not being changed for days together. There came similar complaint of blankets not being given to the indoor patients’. About ten para medics and nurses were found away rom duty when Jha made the round of the hospital. To a question as to what action is to be taken against these absentees the DC said ‘ I have left this decision to the discretion of the civil surgeon as I want him to exercise his authority and let me see what he does with these absentees like if the civil surgeon cuts a day’s salary or slap show cause notices etc’.
Jha said he spent more than three hours in the sadar hospital. On being asked that female ward of this hospital leaves much to be desired the DC said “The ANMs are to be fine tuned in.” He added “I have been told of touts operating in this ward who fleece the female patients.”
