Palamu CS advises vaccination before planning a child

A pregnancy plan is a must in this coronavirus infection time. Couples have been advised to have such a pregnancy plan where the man and woman both become the recipient of the two doses of the Covid vaccine specially the woman.

Medics said if despite the two doses a woman contracts Coronavirus infection then it is sincerely advised that she should defer her pregnancy plan for weeks together for a happy and healthy life.

Civil surgeon Palamu Anil Kumar Srivastav has urged the couples specially women to have their two doses of the vaccine first before their getting pregnant.

He said a non covid pregnant woman has the least of the tension to have a life growing in her belly in comparison to a Covid positive woman whose worry for her and her baby in her womb remains tremendous.

The Civil surgeon said conducting delivery of Covid infected woman is a real big challenge as it involves a high degree of safety of all the pregnant woman,  team of doctor and staff and the new born as well.

He said the new born is to be vaccinated and if the mother or the new born or both test positive then there is a wait of minimum of five days before the new born is to be vaccinated on his / her turning negative.

The Civil Surgeon said it weighs too heavily upon the mind of the mother and the joy of motherhood takes a back seat in such a situation and hence the best course is to have two doses of the vaccine first and then then to go for the baby.

There has been a sharp decline in the number of women coming to the hospital for delivery said sources. It used to be on an average five delivery a day in the non Covid time, which is now two a day.

Sources said there has been a few deliveries conducted in the Medinirai Medical College Hospital in Daltonganj where Covid infected women delivered babies safely but the OT and labour room etc had to be fumigated and kept shut for 24 hours as a matter of the safeguard from the coronavirus.

The government of India has recommended vaccination for the lactating women but there is no word on the pregnant woman in regard to the vaccination.
