Divisional commissioner of Palamu NK Mishra on Monday visited the counting centre in Daltonganj and took stock of the arrangement and preparation for the counting of votes to be done on Tuesday December 23.
The divisional commissioner Mishra found the arrangement satisfactory. He said that the administration has done good spade work. The divisional commissioner said at the counting centre he found one observer there who hails from Maharashtra.
The commissioner reiterated that there would be observers for each of the 5 assembly constituencies votes of which will be counted Tuesday.
The commissioner further said, “I have asked the returning officers and the DC and the SP to remain in touch with the observers at the counting centres so that in the event of seeking any advice/instruction the services of the observers can be availed of as these observers remain hooked to the Election Commission of India Delhi which keeps stand by a fleet of legal experts on poll to give instant advice/instruction from there.”
The commissioner had inspected the counting centre in latehar on Sunday. He said here in latehar the counting centre is located in the interior but the administration has done a leak proof security arrangement here. The counting centre is set up in a Government polytechnic college there.
On being asked if he would be visiting Garhwa too to which Mishra said ‘Surely today itself’. The commissioner said Garhwa DC Manish Ranjan is quite up and doing since day one and the administration there has got a fillip there.
These two districts Garhwa and latehar have each 2 assembly constituencies where the counting is expected to be over hours before the Palamu district where there are 5 assembly constituencies and the counting of votes is expected to run till past two o' clock.
The Commissioner added further that he had discussed security arrangements in all these 3 districts Garhwa, latehar and Palamu in the wake of the post counting scenario.
Meanwhile the residents here in Daltonganj have taken with a pinch of salt the exit poll predictions days before the counting saying the outcome would frustrate many a psephologist.
