BJP's district organisational election here in Palamu is to first wait for the outcome of the selection of two coveted posts, chairman and vice chairman of Zila Parishad. Party sources said that the outcome of the local body election would greatly affect the inter election. The previous team of zila parishad here had two BJP persons one a female on these two coveted posts.
Now that BJP's district organisational election is round the corner all eyes are first on the zila parishad's posts of chairman and vice chairman. The outgoing president of Palamu district BJP Manoj Kumar Singh said the organisational election of the BJP would take off once the picture of zila parishad's two prime posts here gets clear.
The outgoing BJP president referred to the presence of 17 elected members of zila parishad in the recent visit of Chief Minister Raghubar Das's meeting with party workers here in Thakur Baree in Redma. Manoj said, "I had requested CM Das to visit BJP Karyalaya who was kind enough to address a gathering of 2,000 workers right in front of the BJP district office".
The 17 zila parishad members sat in attendance for Das' programme. The total number of seats in zila parishad is 36. Their voices would count much in the selection/election of district president of BJP here said sources. Asked if the organisational election of BJP is in any way linked to zila parishad here Manoj K Singh said “No. We are to finish pour mandal chunao. And the timing is such when two posts of zila parishad will also be adorned by two among the 36 elected”.
Party insiders said there are about a dozen probables for BJP president in Palamu. There is one who has left RSS to do active BJP politics. He too has his claim said party insiders. However it is to be seen if the RSS continues backing this fellow. Insiders say no woman BJP leader can reach the post of district presidentship here. The insider reiterated ' It is too hard for a woman here in Palamu to lead the party'. Sources said the BJP may look towards Vaishya community leader but here too its stock is near empty as there is no suitable and commonly acceptable Vaishya leader.
In BJP's constitution one can hold the post of district presidentship only twice. There is no provision of any third term. The outgoing Manoj Kumar Singh has served as district president of BJP for two consecutive terms. Sources said Manoj would emerge as a king maker this time in this party organisational election. A BJP leader begging anonymity said the outgoing president would have great say and sway this election.
