Palamu biggest host of adalats

Published on:
Palamu is now the host of four kinds of adalats to be precise. Three of the four are from the judiciary namely lok Adalat, Bal lok Adalat and Jail Adalat.  One adalat is held by the outlawed, the naxal outfis the CPI Maoist and the TPC.

Sources said with the recently concluded National lok Adalat on November 23 the word adalat has become an in thing here in this extremist ravaged Palamu. The turnout of the commoners in the November 23 legal show came as a water down on the Naxals who sponsored Jan Adalats. Here the commoners came without any coercion and with  hope of getting justice. In jan adalats of the naxals there is fear driven appearance of the commoners.

Deliverance is at both places Naxals’ Jan Adalats and lok adalats of the judiciary. But there is the difference between the two. Jan Adalats dispensation is crude, medievalistic and partisan. The lok Adalat’s dispensation is agreeable to both the parties without any coercion, temptation and inducement.

Sources said about six or seven years back jan adalats of the naxals used to create flutter here in Palamu. With the growing frequency of legal awareness camps and holding of lok adalat every last Saturday in the Palamu judgeship here the aura and awe of the jan adalats of the naxals here has paled much into insignificance.

The tremendous success of National lok Adalat here in Palamu civil courts has enlivened the hope of the commoners living in the shadow of extremism. The principal district and sessions judge Palamu civil courts V K Sahay and secretary of district legal services authority K K Jha and his entire team of legal pundits are credited for the success of the mega event here. A total of 3, 145 cases in National lok Adalat here in Palamu judgeship is a testimony of people’s acceptability of lok Adalat here.

Parrying a direct question as to where does the Palamu judgeship stand in the queue of achievement the principal sessions judge V K Sahay said ‘ We done find or put ourselves in any race of who the best but strongly believe in performance and our performance on this November 23 speaks volumes when the crowd of people swelled for getting their cases settled and disposed of’.

Again pestered if the Jharkhand High Court ever patted this judgeship for November 23 business here Sahay said ‘ The Jharkhand High Court’s justice P P Bhatt came here all the way from Ranchi by road and moved round the benches 13 in all and expressed his glee over the way it was conducted’. Justice Bhatt interacted and intervened in one case where the resolution of the case helped a beneficiary much ( read the client) said K K Jha.

In Bal lok Adalat held the same November 23 three cases were disposed of said Jha. Again in jail adalat six cases were disposed of. In Bal lok adalat the three juveniles in conflict with law got the much needed relief to re start a new life.
