Palamu admin gets on job for PM’s visit

Palamu district administration has girdled its loins for the January 5 visit of the Prime Minister Narendra Modi here in Chiyanki, a down town of Daltonganj located on NH 75 for the laying of foundation for the residual works of the Mandal dam which is officially known as North Koyal Water Reservoir Project.

A camp office has been set up at Chiyanki which is the venue of the PM’s visit said DC Palamu Shantanu Kumar Agrahari in a press briefing here today.

Palamu administration has carved space for around 80,000 visitors on this occasion. One fifth or sixth of this number could be of the vehicles of all modes and sizes said sources.

Agrahari said there will be 12 parking enclosure for the convenience of the visitors here. Adequate arrangements have been made for people coming from Latehar and Garhwa district as for them there will be convenient parking places for their vehicles.

PM will be here for just one hour between10.30 AM and 11.30 AM, said the DC. He said there would be effective crowd management on this occasion. This will be Modi’s third visit here at Chiyanki one when he was in Lok Sabha fray. Second time he came for Assembly election here in Jharkhand and now for this Mandal dam.

Sources said crowd becomes restless on two major counts first no inch to sit and then difficulty in hearing the speech of the VVIP to which DC said there will be flawless arrangement for both. Sound system will be of state of the art quality, which will be a kind of example for the state DC reiterated.

He said as the venue is on NH 75 all care and effort will be done to keep the NH 75 traffic going smoothly.

The venue is under tight police security. SP Palamu Indrajeet Mahatha and team of civil officials are inspecting the venue twice a day to solve the intricacies of the day when PM will be here.

However, there is one question that none answers. Mandal dam is under Barwadeeh block of Latehar district where PM is not going but coming over to Palamu district’s Daltonganj Chiyanki about 53 or 54 kilometers away from here.

Insiders in the administration said Daltonganj Chiyanki airstrip is good enough for three IAF or three BSF  choppers as this is unfit for any other aircraft except helicopters.  Latehar is said to be wanting in this.

Insiders further said the location of the dam at Mandal and other parts of Latehar are more sensitive and fragile from naxal point of view than this venue here near NH 75.  Insiders further said there was a spate of naxal violence in terms of torching of road making tools and even throat slitting of construction site in charge there in the district in the recent weeks which might be on the back of the agencies responsible for PM’s visit.

Sources said there is far more impressive security environs here in Palamu than Latehar where dam has caused immense public anger over the issue of displacement of as many as 8 villages

To a question if ministers of government of Bihar too will be coming over here as this Mandal dam is an interstate water reservoir DC said, “We have so far no such information. The list of VVIPs is settled by PMO and Special Protection Group of PM.”
