Pakur SP was last to die, says DGP

DGP Rajiv Kumar today said the Dumka incident was an ambush which was carried out by not more than 10-15 rebels. "As there was a culvert and the road was under construction, the SP's cavalcade automatically slowed down," he added.

Revealing the details after returning from Dumka and Pakur, the DGP said the bodyguards did not get time to retaliate as some of them died in the vehicle itself and the SP was the last to die in the attack.

"As the bullet had pierced the SP's thigh, he took time to call the officer in-charge of Amrapara police station at 2:32 pm seeking back-up," said the DGP.

"However, the Maoists soon killed the SP and waited for a few minutes to ensure that he had died and then melted away in the nearby jungles," said the DGP.
