The largest and tallest Tricolour, that was unfurled a few days ago, got damaged again on Wednesday.
It has put the members of Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti (PMVS) in a fix as they are not able to find out any solution to this problem. It had been raised after a long gap of over three weeks.
The flag got ripped up for the fourth time since it was unfurled for the first time by Union Defence Minister Manohar Parikkar at the occasion of 119th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose. Chief Minister Raghubar Das had also announced in the Assembly that a team of retired Army personnel will be involved to find out solution for the problem.
“We are also not able to understand how to tackle the problem. This is basically a problem of high wind speed which could not be controlled anyway. This season is also very prone to speeding winds.......let this season come to an end, then we may be able to find out some solution for this problem,” said Public Relation Officer of Pahari Mandir Vikas Samiti Mukesh Agrawal. Meanwhile, a consignment was on the way from Mumbai which was likely to reach here within a day or two, he added.
“It will be replaced with a new one as soon as it reaches to us,” said Agrawal.
In order to make it cost effective, the Samiti has also been trying to get it prepared locally. “In a bid to make it convenient for us, we have taken an initiative to get it prepared here itself by a local tailor which is much cheaper than what we order from outside,” said Agrawal. The fabric also is much better than the earlier one which has been brought from Delhi for this purpose only, he added.
“If we succeed this time, then the flag post will never be left vacant for more than two hours as we will be able to change the flag very frequently,” Agrawal added.
India’s tallest and the largest flag weighing 60 kg and having dimensions of 66 feet by 99 feet was unfurled atop Pahari Mandir at a height of 493 feet from the ground to mark the 119th birth anniversary of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose.
