Pahari Vikash Samiti members and district administration though claimed that they are all geared up for Shravani Mela Mahotsav organised every year at Pahari Mandir, situated in the heart of the city. But looking at the present condition, it seems that neither the members of Vikash Samiti nor the administration are yet ready for a month-long event.

Dumped construction material, incomplete construction of pathways and lanes including dilapidated public shelters constructed at an open space at a regular distance will welcome the devotees and might prove perilous during the events as huge rush is expected in such events.

From CCTV cameras arrangement to medical assistance including fixing all other infrastructural glitches, the committee has drafted out a plan to tackle the crowd during a month long event but have left out the major issues which may create hurdle for devotees. Boosting infrastructural and other essential steps are yet to be figured out by the members and administration. However, only after the formal meeting with the committee members which is slated to be conducted within a week, other mandatory measures will be ensured for the safety of denizens.

“The administration and the committee members are all geared up for the festival. The security will be beefed up accordingly. Moreover other essential decisions like pathways, barricades, repairing sheds, participation of NGOs, number of police posts will be decided soon. The meeting will be conducted within a week. As construction work and other hiccups are considered will be tackled shortly,” said Ranchi DC, Manoj Kumar who is also an ex-officio Chairperson of Pahari Vikash Samiti.

The construction work of stairway route that has been chalked out for entry and exit of devotees is yet to be completed. The devotees will climb up stairs from the eastern side of the hill to reach the main temple and return from the western side. Road are yet not evened out and all around fencing of the temple is still incomplete.

“The repairing work is in progress. As per the security is concerned, we have given the work to a private agency ‘Globe Electric’ to check all the 32 CCTV cameras. Apart this, for medical assistance Ranchi Civil Surgeon team will be deployed and doctors will be available especially on Mondays and Sundays. The medical team will be divided into two sections and will assist people accordingly,” said, Pahari Vikash Samiti, Treasurer, Hari Jalan. However, the guideline will be issued and responsibility will be fixed consequently, only after the meeting is conducted.

Nevertheless, small arrangements like ensuring water and toilet facilities are being prearranged. “As per the requirement, mobile toilets will be made available and shortly, the letter will be sent to the corporation. Moreover, those toilets which are often locked during the usual days to prevent it from anti social elements will be opened for the visitors. As many as 100 to 150 Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) volunteers will too assist the members of Pahari Vikash Samiti and administrative staffs in managing the crowd during Shrawan Mahotasav,” added Jalan.
