In a daring robbery, over hundred persons travelling to Bokaro were looted near Bhatua Basti under Harla police station on Dhanbad-Bokaro road Friday night. At about 11.30 pm many masked road robbers with sharp weapons first blocked the road by placing tree trunks and looted dozens of vehicles including cars, buses and motorcycle coming from Giridih and Dhanbad to Bokaro, said Rajaram a victim of the loot. Rs35 thousand cash robbed form him, the robbers also thrashed him, Rajaram said.
“After seeing obstacle on road we stopped our car, suddenly robbers appeared and first took us on sharp weapon point and looted cash and ornaments,” said another victim on condition of anonymity.
The incidents continued for more than one and half hours. Robbers looted travellers coming from both directions, thrashed them and also broke the window glasses of the vehicles, said another victim.
Though many of them were looted only a few turned to police station to lodge a complaint. Only three of four family members have registered cases with the police station. Police said the investigation is on.
