Over 40 persons tested positive for Coronavirus infection have gone traceless in Bokaro district. The officials in the health department were left high-and-dry when they were unable to trace around 40 COVID-19 positive patients. Police and health department officials are on the hunt to catch them, informed an official.

Civil Surgeon Bokaro AK Pathak, confirmed that around 40 persons who were tested COVID-19 positive are still traceless in the district. After their investigation reports reached here on Monday and Tuesday, he said.  "After receiving the investigation reports, we had initiated tracing (over their phone and addresses) to shift them to COVID-19 isolation facility. As per the protocol, Health Department officials have to convey patient test results telephonically immediately after the test reports from lab reaches them," said Pathak.

“While trying to contact them we found their mobile numbers were either not active or switched-off; even their addresses are also fake. “We have already handed over a list of those patients to Superintendent of Police Bokaro and cops are on hunt,” added Pathak.

Those people are still openly moving on city roads and spreading virus infection. Perhaps they also not know that they are COVID-19 positive, said an official.Bokaro saw a huge spike in Coronavirus infection cases during past few weeks. On Tuesday sixty-eight more people tested positive for COVID-19 in the district, taking tally to 468 active cases.
