Over 300 applications for setting up new industrial units are pending for disposal with the Adityapur Industrial Area Development Authority AIADA, which due to land crunch has not been able to provide the necessary plot to the entrepreneurs.
land crunch in Asia's largest industrial hub, is posing a major hurdle for the growth of the State's largest industry hub. In a recent meeting, the officials dwelled at length on ways to resolve the crisis to allow more industries to come up in the hub. Such has been the demand for land in AIADA that around 300 applications for industrial projects have been pending with it for some years now awaiting allotment of land. Meanwhile, AIADA has decided to spreads its wing to the interior of the Seraikela.
The AIADA, a statutory body which works under the department of industry, Jharkhand has selected over 160 acres of government land in Dugni and Rajnagar, both in the Seraikela-Kharsawan district for opening up new avenues for the entrepreneurs.
The AIADA has not only got the land identified, but has also got the earmarked land approved by the Seraikela-Kharsawan district administration for procurement.
Managing director, AIADA, Jugal Kishore Chowbey said they have started the process to acquire 75 acres of government land at Rajnagar and 89 acres of land at Dugni.
"We want to immediately solve the land crunch and are working on the project. The 164 acres of land which we have identified is the government land.
We have started the process of procuring the land and have requested the state industry department to sanction the requisite fund for buying the land," Chowbey said.
The AIADA managing director pointed out that unlike earlier, they have to buy the land from the government for developing it.
"Times have changed and procuring land is the major challenge for us. Earlier, there was a system in which the government land used to be transferred to the AIADA and subsequently it would be given on lease to the enterpreneurs. But now the system has been changed and as per the new system even though the AIADA is part of state industry department, it has to buy the land from the government at the prescribed government rate," said the AIADA MD.
Chowbey, informed that they have asked the industry department to sanction `30 crores for purchasing the land at Dugni and Rajnagar. He pointed out the Seraikela district administration has already sanctioned the proposal for acquiring the land, and it is a matter of sanctioning of the requisite fund.
The AIADA managing director said that once the land is acquired, they would invite fresh application from the interested entrepreneurs for availing plots of land.
It may be noted that the sprawling Adityapur Industrial Area houses over 1200 units- including 11 large-scale, 64 small scale and 166 tiny industries.
A few important industries which have global presence are Usha Martin Group, RSB Group, Tata Steel Growth Shop (TGS) etc., too situated in this industrial belt, situated in Seraikela-Kharsawan. There are 20 industries, which export its products to the USA, Australia and other European countries.
Facing space crunch, AIADA, over the years had earlier acquired around 2,200 acre of private land near the Sitarampur dam at the Gamharia end of the existing AIADA phase-I. All of the 3,000 acre under AIADA phase-I was allotted to around 500 medium and small industrial units. To satisfy its immediate needs, the authority is seeking more land.
