Over 100 nursing homes remain unregistered in Hazaribag

Nursing homes in Hazaribag are running in the surrounding area of Shiekh Bikhari Medical College and Hospital without any registration and the same is the case with nursing homes in main road and in other streets of the town. There are 250 nursing homes running in the district headquarter and sub divisions and blocks, but only 135 are registered. A large number of nursing homes have been running without complying with the standards of the health department.

As per the information collected from civil surgeon office in Hazaribag town, Barhi and blocks of the district approximately 250 nursing homes are running in these areas. The standards fixed by the health department have not been followed by the maximum nursing homes.

The civil surgeon office has issued so many notices to those nursing homes that are not registered in the district. But, no one has tried to look after the notice, because maximum nursing homes are run by the doctors who are working in Sadar Hospital.

Most of the nursing homes are running in two or three rooms. The agents of nursing homes are often seen to be misguiding the relatives of the patients and admitting the patients in the unregistered nursing homes and getting the commission from the owners.

The same condition is applicable on the labs in the district headquarter and in the 150 pathology labs, only 35 are registered. The illegal pathology labs are also using fake prescriptions with the name and degree of the doctor.

There are 42 ultrasonography facilities in two hospitals in Hazaribag. Out of 42, six are out of order. Only 36 are running in the town areas. The ultrasonography machines in Sadar hospital and SBMCH are out of order.

Due to fake reports several people have lost their lives. Civil Surgeon Dr. SP Singh said that they have issued notices to such illegal nursing homes and labs. He further said that they have formed a team with the doctors to check the papers of the nursing homes, labs and ultrasonography center.
