The Opposition has revisited its arsenal to corner the ruling NDA in the State Legislative Assembly on the second day of Winter Session on Wednesday when it will launch an all round attack on the Government for allegedly ignoring education system in the State and leaving lakhs of school students in a lurch.
Although it has been decided in the Business Advisory Committee meeting of the House on Monday that a special debate will be held on the para teachers issue on December 26, the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) has made it clear that it will not let the House run if the issue is not debated in the House.
“It’s an urgent situation. Teachers across the State are on strike, lakhs of school-kids are without teachers for over one and a half months, several schools have been closed due to merger; several other government employees are on strike. How can you just avoid this situation and continue with question hour in the house? You must discuss and find a solution to it,” said JMM MLA from Bahragora Kunal Sarangi.
“We have decided to bring work adjournment motion on Wednesday and want positive response from Government. If the Government is ready to discuss on the vital issues then the House would run, else they would have made their choice,” he said adding that CM has time to tour Dubai but he does not have time to discuss important issues of the State.
The Congress party, which is buoyed with the Kolebira bypoll win, is also ready to stage protest in the House. MLA Irfan Ansari said that they will corner the government and if it avoids discussion on the issue, the MLAs will stage protest. “We will meet the Governor on the issue on Wednesday. The government has called the para teachers not for talks but they have called them to shoot with bullets,” said the MLA.
The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha has also joined the chorus. JVM legislator Pradeep Yadav said that the entire education system in the State has gone kaput and the Government is sitting idle. “It is not only the para teachers issue but also school merger, recruitment of outsiders in plus two schools, merger of schools, removal plan of male teachers from KGBVs are going to be raised in the House. These are the most basic issues of the masses in the State. You can’t just sit and wait for an automatic solution of the problems,” said the MLA.
