Opp ridicules exit poll, terms it gossip

As the Exit polls have given a boost to the BJP’s “Abki Baar, 300 paar’ claim, the BJP is on cloud nine, but the Opposition leaders have ridiculed the polls and believe that the exit poll figures are making erroneous claims.

Chief Minister Raghubar Das elated over the exit polls results, which have given rosy pictures for BJP said, “Exit polls are trends which shows that the BJP is set to attain majority and could easily cross the magic number required for forming the government.”

He further said that in Jharkhand too, the BJP is to make good show with party set to win 13 to 14 seats in State. The different survey agencies, which conducted exit polls, have clearly shown an advantage for BJP. Times Now VMR and ABP Nielsen have given eight seats to BJP while six seats to Mahagathbandhan, similarly India Today Axis polls have given 12 seats to NDA and two seats to Grand Alliance, Today Chanakya has given ten seats to NDA and four seats to Grand Alliance.

However, the Opposition parties have claimed that exit polls are not real picture of election as the sample size in survey is very less. Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (P) president and former Chief Minister Babulal Marandi said, “Going through the exit polls it appears that all the survey agencies have given BJP national president Amit Shah’s figure which he has been claiming for past four months. Shah has been claiming that BJP will get 300 plus seats and all exit polls have given BJP 300 plus seats.”

Marandi, who is contesting election from Koderma, claimed that his victory from Koderma is sure. The former chief minister also denied the theory that Koderma is going to witness triangular contest. He said, “Koderma is going to witness direct contest between JVM(P) and BJP and based on feedback from constituency, I am sure of winning the election.”

Echoing the views of Marandi , State Congress spokesperson Lal Kishore Nath Shahdeo said, “The good projection of exit polls in favour of BJP has given the Saffron party leaders and there cadres two-three days more for BJP to live in fool paradise. On May 23 when the results will come all exit polls claim will fall flat.”

Shahdeo further said, “On earlier occasions too, exit polls prediction were found wrong. In 2004, 2009 general election and 2015 Bihar assembly election the exit polls had predicted the NDA was to form government in centre and Bihar , but when the results came all predictions were found wrong.”

The State RJD leadership too claimed that Exit poll prediction will fall flat on May 23.

In State the BJP had contested 13 seats while one seat has been given to its ally partner AJSU. The four parties Mahagathbandhan have contested the election in alliance in ratio of Congress 7, JMM 4, JVM 2 and RJD 1 seats respectively.
