Opp raps Speaker’s Court ruling in anti-defection case

Reacting on expected lines the entire Opposition snubbed the ruling given by Speaker Dinesh Oraon’s Court that stamped six former JVM MLAs as of the BJP on Wednesday.

JVM general secretary and legislator of party Pradeep Yadav using tough words denounced the decision of the Tribunal outrightly and pledged to knock the doors of the highest court of the country.

“The ruling given by the Assembly Speaker is against the spirit of the 10th Scheduled of the Constitution which clearly says that 2/3 of all the elected members and other party office bearers are required to merge to validate it. This has not happened. This is clearly like murder of democracy. It is unfortunate that Jharkhand would again be perceived as a laughing stock before the nation,” said the JVM MLA.

He also rapped the BJP and said that it was expected from it while alleging that the decision of the Speaker’s Court has come under duress. “It was expected from the BJP. We were expecting that they would pressurise the Tribunal to get a favourable order.

We oppose the verdict and would soon move to the Supreme Court to get the order corrected,” added Yadav. JVM spokesperson Yogendra Singh termed it a black day and alleged the BJP for running all the Constitutional institutions through remote control.

Pradesh Congress Committee president Ajoy Kumar also criticised the decision terming it the one establishing opportunists and turncoats into politics. “Eyes of entire State and its people were on the Speaker but he tore apart the legacy attached with punch-parmeshwara office. The Speaker says that it was not a defection but merger of one party into the other. This is unfortunate and wrong. He has ruled this just to be in power and to protect the Government and was well anticipated,” said the State Congress chief.

He added that the order is a disrespect of the anti-defection law and has weakened the democratic setup and alleged that the Speaker was under great deal of pressure to pronounce a suitable decision.

Jharkhand Mukti Morcha also reacted adversely to the judgment. “The Speaker has been and was acting under pressure from the Government. This is not an impartial decision which anyone can understand and feel.

This way the BJP is running amok and running down every institution of the country which is a great danger for democracy,” said party general secretary Supriyo Bhattacharya.
