Opp cries foul over rly fare hike

Published on:

Congress, JVM and other parties in the State on Friday reacted strongly against the Union Government’s decision to increase the Rail fare, though the BJP State unit called the decision prudent and bitter pill to swallow for remedy of an old disease.

The JPCC in its official statement stated that the 14.2 per cent hike in passenger fare and 6.5 per cent hike in freight charges would disturb the common man’s life in a big way. It called the BJP’s rhetoric against price hike during election campaigns a big farce.

The PPC further said that the fare hike indicated that the government was a failure in working for the interest of the poor. It also stated that the Congress would launch an agitation against the step.

The Jharkhand Vikas Morcha also stated that the NDa was working for the rich and the effluent rather than the poor people of the country.

It compared the NDA rule with the UPA regime and said that the NDA did in a month what the UPA was doing for the past five years.

Terming the decision

anti-people the JVM announced to burn effigies of both PM and Railway Minister at all district headquarters of the State.

The State BJP unit, on the other hand, came in support of the Centre calling it a prudent decision to stabilise the economy going through the worst phase in recent times.
