In order to provide an easy platform to the tech-savvy youths, enabling better inflow of information from the masses, a Facebook page dedicated to Operation Muskaan was launched by DGP DK Pandey at Police headquarters in Ranchi on Thursday. The Facebook page, which could be accessed from the CID website, will have all information about the Operation Muskaan making the people aware of the crime against children.
Congratulating the team involved in creating the page on Facebook under the leadership of SP CID Narendra Kuamar Singh, Pandey said that protecting children from sexual and physical abuse has become a challenge for the police department which is to be dealt with seriously.
“Jharkhand Police has made several moves in order to become child-friendly and several efforts are also being made to make all the 465 Police Stations as child friendly,” said the DGP. Child help desk is being created providing a separate room in each of the police stations, he added.
Meanwhile, child-welfare officers for each of the police stations have been appointed who are being trained to provide assistance to the children. “These child welfare officers will have all information regarding the child rights, age memo of children and child helpline so that they can provide assistance to the children in the hour of need,” said DGP.
The DGP also stressed on linking the two observation homes in Ranchi and Dumka to other parts of the states. A short film on child sexual abuse, Komal, was also shown during an inaugural ceremony which was praised by all present there.
According to the DGP, over 3200 missing children was a challenge for the police department before Operation Muskaan-I was launched. The figure went to less than 2000 after the first phase which further went down to 1000 after the second phase of Operation Muskaan II, said the DGP.
“We are soon going to launch the third phase and expecting the figure of missing children to reach up to less than 100,” said the DGP.
As many as 95 children have been rescued so far from other states during second phase of Operation Muskan conducted from July 4 to July 31 out of which, 57 were from Jharkhand while 37 hailed from outside the states like Bihar Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
