The commencement of two ticket booking counters at the Burmamines-end of the Tatanagar railway station seems to get delayed further. According to information, the centres would not be able to start working before the pujas.

Senior divisional commercial manager of Chakradharpur railway division, Ashok Agarwal said that they are not in a position to start the two ticket booking counters before the pujas due to some constraints. "We were hopeful to start two ticket booking counters at the Burmamines-end. But, because of some staff related and other technical problems we will not able to start the facility before the pujas, " he said.

Railway officials said that opening of two ticket booking counters at the Burmamines-end of the railway station would have helped in controlling the rush. "There is heavy rush during the festive season. Though there are five counters at the railway station which provides unreserved tickets for trains of various destinations. Two more counters would have been added if the Burmamines counters functioned. It would have helped travellers in view the festive season ahead," explained an official.

located on the Howrah-Mumbai main route Tatanagar is an important station. Several important trains travel via Tatanagar, including the high-profile Rajdhani Express and Duronto Express. The station sees a daily traffic of 90 mail, express and passenger trains, besides a footfall of more than 60,000 passengers.

Meanwhile, the sources revealed that the second entrance to Tatanagar railway station from the Burmamines-end, scheduled to be ready by now, will take more time to become operational. According to railway sources, senior officials of the Chakradharpur division inspected the site last week to identify the bottlenecks. Apart from removal of shops that have encroached upon the area, a few issues like construction of a foot overbridge are hindering progress.
