One-year-old boy survives major surgery, on road to recovery

Published on:

A one-year-old boy was suffering from recurrent vomiting, diminishing vision, irritability, increasing drowsiness. He was admitted in a critical and unconscious condition to Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital.

After the medical examinations, it was diagnosed that the kid was suffering from a huge tumor in the posterior fossa (a small space located in or near the bottom of the skull). Moreover, the tumour was blocking the flow of fluid in the brain leading to abnormal accumulation of fluids inside the brain and thereby increasing pressure on the brain. Though a critical case in itself, Dr Nasikh Perwez, consultant-Neuro & Spine Surgery, at the Brahmananda Narayana Multispeciality Hospital took up the challenge and performed a twelve-hour successful surgery along with his team of neurosurgical paramedical staff and pediatricians. The baby has regained consciousness, good vision and oral food consumption and is now on the road to recovery.
