Officials told to expedite sand ghat auction

Chief Minister Raghubar Das has directed the officials to complete the process of auctioning of all sand quarrying sites located in the State as soon as possible. Das was addressing a review meeting related to Mining and Geology Department at his Project Building office in Ranchi on Monday.

“Unwanted delay in the auctioning of the mining sites is being done posing a negative impact on the development projects in the state. Hence it is important that the process of auctioning is completed as soon as possible,” said Das. Due to delay in the auctioning, smuggling of sand from other states as well as illegal mining is getting promoted in the state causing heavy losses for the state exchequer, added the CM.

Officials of Mining and Geology Department, however, informed the CM that tender process for the auction has been started in Ranchi and the process of auctioning has already been completed for 13 sites in Jamshedpur, 11 in Saraikela as well as 24 sites of Jamshedpur.

CM expressing his annoyance questioned why auctioning could not be done in other districts if it could be done in these four districts. The CM further added that auctioning of the sand mining sites being a departmental process, does not require any separate directions and also asked the DCs and District Mining officers to hold a meeting immediately and complete the process of auctioning.

The CM stressed on result oriented steps taken in this regard to check the problems being faced by the people of this state.
