Senior officials from the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), state police and East Central Railway took stock of the security situations of the railway stations falling under CIC section of Dhanbad division here on Wednesday.

ADG (Operations) R K Mallick; DIG CRPF Jayant Paul; DIG Palamu Vipul Shukla and DRM Dhanbad M K Akhouri visited the railway stations and saw for themselves the exact state of the security arrangement.

Sources said there was a flutter of activities on the Daltonganj railway stations where right from ADG to two DIG along with SP Palamu made a detour to see the security situations at the station and huddled together in the VIP lounge for a brainstorming session.

A report of the security angle of the railway stations and other railway properties has been sought by the Railway Board Delhi.

Sources said it was Union Railway Minister Piyush Goyal who had spurred his ministry's officials to take along with them the senior security officials to find out the security status of the railway stations in this left wing extremist hit zone.

The Union Minister was earlier apprised of the apathy of the railway officials during the movement of the security forces in this zone.

Railways have always been soft targets for the Maoists. According to railway sources, there are stations like Bendi, Demo, Richugutta,

Hehegara Kumandi and Chhipadohar where the risk factor for the security forces is too high and the basic amenities at these stations are utterly lacking.

However, in the past two years; Maoists' assault on the railway tracks has gone down in the region of Palamu latehar, told the sources.

"Nevertheless the danger quotient of the region continues to be as high as ever," he said.
