latehar administration’s plan to have a meeting with vice chancellor of Nilamber Pitamber University saw a bizarre situation as the Vice Chancellor of NPU S N Singh had to return without attending the meeting due to inordinate delay. The meeting, scheduled at 11 am at Manika block office 40 Kms off Daltonganj, took place after 11.50 am on Monday when the VC had to return after waiting for the DC latehar and Manika MlA.
DC latehar P K Gupta had convened a meeting for the start of a degree college in Manika on Monday. The invitees were Manika MlA, chairperson of latehar District Council, latehar SDO and then as per copy of DC latehar letter VC NPU too was requested to attend this meeting. The meeting was for the start of teaching courses in Degree College in Manika from the coming session 2018 -19.
Sources said for 50 minutes there came neither DC latehar nor Manika MlA at the meeting venue. It was the chairperson latehar District Council who was there in time. Sources said VC NPU left this venue and returned to Daltonganj as the delay was too enormous said sources.
“I had asked my people to have this meeting at 11.30 or 11.45 but they just kept the time 11 am. I got an urgent meeting in latehar. It was difficult for me to leave that meeting midway. I was late but I have been told that VC has assured to give us all co operation in the start of this degree college here in Manika,” said DC latehar P K Gupta , adding, “We are to start this degree college from the session 2018 -19.” On being asked as to from where will come the faculty members for this degree college Gupta said, “The VC has told me that he will be pooling in teachers from the nearby colleges here in this degree college at Manika.”
Manika BJP MlA Harey Krishna Singh on the other hand said, “I was ready but waiting for latehar DC to come to the venue and this caused delay’. The MlA too said the VC NPU had promised all help.
VC NPU S N Singh said, “I reached the meeting venue at 11 am sharp which was the scheduled start time of this meeting but for 50 long minutes when there was neither DC latehar nor Manika MlA at the venue I thought it fit to return to Daltonganj.
The university believes that opening of colleges in places like Manika is good. Colleges just do not come up with only rooms, ground, benches and desks. It is teachers and non teaching staff and enrolled students that make any college runs.”
Singh said, “I do not have any conversation at all till this hour with DC latehar on the issue of arranging faculty members for this college. I cannot vouch if any other NPU official had any talk with DC latehar in this connection.”
