Following poor results of Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) Intermediate Science stream declared a month ago the department of School Education and literacy has formed teams to make inspections to gauge the present status of schools, especially those which have not performed well in the intermediate science examination.
The department officials are inspecting the high schools functioning in various districts to scrutinise the present status of Government schools. Most schools functioning across the districts lack basic amenities which is one of the reasons for degradation of intermediate science stream results, they said.
“We are inspecting only those schools whose performance is below average in science intermediate examination conducted this year. The condition of science laboratories in maximum schools is neither up to the mark nor the labs have been upgraded in several schools, this was also found while carrying out inspection in two Government schools located in Gumla which includes SS Plus Two School and SS Girls High School, the students of which have comparatively scored less than their counterparts,” said, Deputy Director, Primary Education, Shashi Kumar Mishra.
“The inspection team is focusing on infrastructure, presence of teachers and other resource personnel and accordingly conducting the inspection. We are also trying to interact with the students. The inspection is being done district wise and soon the report will be compiled. The team will submit the report to DC soon,” added Mishra.
Recently, the School Education and literacy Department had issued a circular to all the District Education officers (DEOs) and District Superintendent of Education (DSEs) in the state to take strict action against the school teachers responsible for poor performance of students.
In science stream a large number of students has scored less than 10 marks in science subjects and mathematics. As many as 18 schools across the State are under scanner, whose results have demeaned in the respective stream.
