Chatra SP Surendra Jha has suspended the officer incharge (OIC )of Itkhori Police Station of the district, Binod Kumar Singh after getting the enquiry report of DSP.

The people of Itkhori had given a memorandum to Chatra SP about the rude behavior of officer in charge and have demanded action against him. On Monday as per the direction of SP the enquiry report was submitted and he took quick action against the erring officer.

On 26th November a video clip taken from the CCTV camera recording of a liquor shop of Itkhori came on social media. It became viral in entire district and then in entire State within 48 hours. In this video clip there was a footage of an incident of the late evening of 25th November in which Itkhori OIC Binod Kumar Singh was brutally beating  a salesman of the liquor shop Sakaldev Ram.

According to sources, the people of Itkhori were in panic due to the working style of OIC Binod Kumar Singh. He used to beat people brutally in public places without any cause or on small errors. The CCTV footage proved an important evidence against him and finally the people of Itkhori got justice.

When this video became viral the OIC has first said that it was a dry day and the liquor shop was open so he ordered the salesmen to close the shop but he started arguing with him but later it became clear that due to village local body election it was 21st to 23rd of November declared as dry day in Itkhori. On that day outside the shop the police men had beaten many people who dared to intervene in the matter.

Angry denizens of Itkhori met SP Chatra after this incident and demanded justice. SP Surendra Kumar Jha informed the denizens that he had directed the DSP and Inspector to enquire the matter and to go through the footage of CCTV camera. They will submit their report within 2 days and then on the basis of their report I will act accordingly. SP Jha kept his words and after getting report suspended the erring officer.

On the other hand suspended officer Binod Kumar Singh said that my duty was to maintain the law and order in the area. My higher officers had directed me to control the activities of anti-social elements in the areas. I was discharging my duty honestly so the mafia elements were annoyed with me and they planted the entire episode in such a way that I was ousted from there.
