'Of 6K arms licence holders, only 250 submit UIN forms'

Published on:

licence holders of arms in Palamu are yet to rush to arms office for submitting filled in formats to validity of their licences. The last date for filing of submission is April 30. The filing of the format, issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, is mandatory and every licence arms holder is to file it. Non-filing of the form will mean non-allotment of Unique Identification Number (UIN) and cancellation of the arms licence from October 1.

An official of the arms section in the Palamu collectorate said that out of 6,000 arms licence holders only 250 have so far submitted their duly filled in forms. This official said people have taken forms from the arms section but failed to submit them after duly filled in. DC Palamu K Srinivasan also stated that licence arms holders have to submit their duly filled in forms along with xerox copy of the licence. The DC asked the licence arms holders to comply with the order. Sources said the MHA has initiated the step to keep a tab on licenced arms if they are taken out of the State. With the UIN such a violation of reaching or going beyond the territory demarcated for the arms can be well detected.
