National University of Study and Research in law (NUSRl) finally seem to be in a position to begin counting days for shifting to its permanent campus at Nagri. On June 23, Jharkhand High Court Judges Justice PP Bhatt and Justice Prashant Kumar directed Central Public Works Department (CPWD) engineers to hand over the infrastructure byAugust 15. The four year old law cradle has decided to manage the new undergraduate batch here due to unavailability of space at BIT Polytechnic campus.

According to NUSRl official sources, the classes of new batch comprising 150 students will commence from August 1. The admission process is scheduled from June 30 to July 3. Vice Chancellor Dr BC Nirmal since his joining in February is trying to fasten the processes for possession of the new campus.

"Justice Bhatt and Justice Kumar inspected our 63.76 acres Nagri campus for around three hours on Monday. Boys Hostel building needs to be completed soon since the buildings of Girls Hostel, Academic and Mess Blocks are already constructed. However, the finishing of all the buildings is yet to be done. Observing this scenario, the judges have directed CPWD to complete the entire construction within a month and handover the same to NUSRl by August 15," NUSRl Public Relations Officer Satya Kumar said.

In a visit to the new campus on Tuesday, The Pioneer found hundreds of labourers working swiftly. The Girls Hostel has 140 rooms with attached balconies while the same numbers of rooms are being made in Boys Hostel. The Mess Block in between the hostels has a large dining room at the ground floor and an auditorium in the first floor.

Both the Judges have asked CPWD to build a boundary wall around Girls hostel specifically for safety reasons. It was found that there is hardly few steps gap between Boys and Girls hotels. The Judges have also asked NUSRl authorities to arrange adequate female security personnel around the Girls Hostel. Sources said presently there is no deployment of forces around the campus. "We are asked to arrange a battalion including female constables for overall security," added sources.

There are about 16 classrooms in the Academic Block. labourers at the site said 8 to 10 offices will be set up in this block. The campus is supposed to have a Sewage Treatment Plant as well. University officials confirmed that once the new batch and hostels are shifted here, the four ongoing UG batches including 336 students with four llM students and three Doctorate scholars will also be shifting here soon.

Speaking on the expenditure of NUSRl for this Nagri campus, sources said that the university had spent an amount of Rs 50 crore in the campus set up. A sum of over Rs 15 crore is required for the remaining construction of which CPWD needs Rs 27 lakh for managing electricity within the blocks.
